I get the feeling that quite a few female bosses just try too
hard to prove that they are just as good as their male
counterparts. Never mind that they have already shattered the glass
ceiling, or that there was probably never one to begin with.
In the process they end up stepping on more than a few toes in
their relentless pursuit of proving that the glass ceiling can be
broken.
It's a bit like how I was quite turned off by the Singapore
Women's Everest Team a few years ago. To quote their expedition
leader:
Jane Lee, team leader of the Singapore Women's Everest Team,
said: "Few people believe that a group of women can stick together
for so long to climb a mountain, and I think fewer people believe
that a group of women are capable of climbing a mountain
together.
Gosh, I never thought that way about women mountain climbers. I
was all aboard with supporting them, but since they want to think
that men like me still look down on them, then they can do without
my support.
